About Jamie

I love crunchy ice cream, maxi dresses and the beach. I am super laid back, but also have generalized anxiety disorder. Go figure that one out. I eat entirely way too much sugar, but don't do caffeine. I have one tattoo. A small butterfly I got for my 18th birthday that now looks like a blue blob. My favorite song is “Three Little Birds” by Bob Marley. My Jamie Plack Photography logo is partly based on this. I may have an eye for photography, but I have zero spatial skills. Like none. Will these leftovers fit in this container? I have no idea. 

One of my favorites things about photography is seeing it empower young girls. It is harder than ever with social media to see the beauty in yourself. Helping them to see them to see how amazing they are both inside and outside is such a joy. I also love having the power to freeze time. Those fleeting moments that will soon be forgotten if not captured forever is a gift I want to share with others. When I am asked to give photography advice, the first thing I always say is "Look for the Light." It could be the ugliest setting, but if the light is good you can make a beautiful photo. Not only should you look for the light to create the photo, but also the light in your subject. Look for what makes them special and come alive.

For those who want to know, I got my official start in photography almost 20 years ago working for a newspaper, where I was honored to win an Associated Press award for my photography. In 2023, I was honored to be inducted into Senior Style Guide's Hall of Fame for senior photographers. I graduated from Grace College with a degree in communications and a minor in journalism. My husband of 13 years, Chris, and I have 7-year-old twins. I have also worked in front of the camera as a commercial model for many years giving me a unique perspective for my clients. I have been featured in ads for Roche, Do It Best, Arbonne, Indianapolis Monthly, Crochet! Magazine and Kenra among others.
